I have been an 8th grade Social Studies teacher in the Quakertown Community School District for the past 10 years. I have a BS in Elementary Education from the Pennsylvania State University and an MS in Educational Development and Strategies from Wilkes University. Curricular focus has been on the founding era of the United States up through the Civil War, but I have also taught Ancient Civilizations and the Middle Ages. I have participated in several teaching seminars and fellowships through Gilder Lerhman, the National Council for the teaching of Social Studies, and the National Endowment for the Humanities. Last year I had the opportunity to serve as a Team Leader in the New Jersey cohort of PLP and have been working to bring conversations surrounding learning and teaching with technology into my home district. I would consider myself someone who likes to play with technology and through blogs, twitter, and ning's I have been engaged in expanding both my own network of learners as well as attempting to expand technology use for my students in my classroom.
